The aim of the project is to develop a model for a sail to be installed on commercial vessels, based on the Seagate project.
The sails have the purpose of helping the engine moving the vessel, thus reducing the overall consumption of fuel. The importance of the project is evident taking in consideration that fuel expenses can be very high for a commercial vessel, namely tens or even hundreds of millions of euros per year.
The rapid increase of commercial traffic together with the raising of environmental issues makes this project even more relevant.
