Our goals

We decided together with professor Cugini to focus our design process on the underlying structure of the stiski. Hence we didn't work on the ergonomic solutions for the seat, its materials, etc; however we considered its position (and the position of the rider) since it is vital to determine the position of the overall center of mass.

The aim was to design an high performance system for the skiing practice, with:

  • A suspension system
  • Independent suspensions, one for each ski, such that a shock on a ski is not transmitted to the other
  • The integration of a model of shock absorber that is already on the market
  • A tilting system, to give the possibility to the rider to carve, even with a large angle
  • Full compatibility with standard skis and ski bindings
  • A system to raise the seat when the user is taking the chairlift
  • A weight under 15 kilograms (as the competitors)

Here you can see a very early sketch for the system:
