FEM Analysis of the Most Stressed Parts:

Upper Knee Support:

    • The picture shows the stresses on the upper bar when a vertical load of 500N is presented.
    • Rotational constrians & Slider constrian
    • Gravity
  • Stress

The stresses on the upper bar are computed in the conditions said before. As shown in the picture they reach a maximum which is the half of the yield srength of the material.

  • Strain

  • Displacement

Even if the picture shows a very huge displacement of the upper part of this bar, the magnitude is still very small: it is 0.9 mm in the most deformed part.

Lower Knee Support:

  • The picture shows the stresses on the upper bar when a horizontal load of 500N is presented.
  • Rotational constrians & Slider constrian
  • Gravity
  • Stress

The stresses on the lower bar are computed in the conditions said before: the maximum stress reaches one third of the yield strength.

  • Strain

  • Displacement

On the lower part the displacements are quite smaller: the most deformed part has a displacement of 0.4 mm.
