The Device
A door lock has to guarantee the perfect closure of the system where is assembled. In the specific, we will analyse an entirely mechanic door lock, allocated on a dryer machine.
The device now must be able to ensure phases of closing and opening dryer’s door.
The Rold Group, leader in this field, offers a simple and intuitive product for his composition and his operating principle: the door closing CB050.
It guarantees certain strength values, for the opening’s and the closing’s phases, regulated from the specific CEI standards.

The actual working system
A) Initial position (door open)
B) Ideal working position (the door remains closed because of the torsion spring even in presence of a light traction force while opening
C) Final position (door locked)
The issue
If the system is accidentally locked (e.g. under the pressure caused with a tool like a pencil), the component stops working.
In order to bring it back to a working state it is necessary to disassembly the appliance, to extract the doorlock and set the blocking cam under initial conditions.
This procedure can't be performed by the user, and it is necessary to have the appliance repaired under maintenance.

The project
The team has developed an innovative idea: to create a "self-repairing" doorlock, which doesn't need external maintenance to get back to its optimal working position.
By doing this the problem early described is easily avoided.
